Abstract:
Many senior asset managers for mines, intermodal facilities and industrial plants have a limited background in Railroads. Their technical strengths are in the business line. This presentation will discuss Railroad safety, Regulatory standard and economic issues with longer trains; and, heavier cars and locomotives. Strategies will be offered for practical methods to lower the Capital cost of yard expansions and improve the safety of switching, mechanical inspection and track maintenance. Recommendations will be offered for reducing derailment risk from the most common causes.
