Abstract:
Heavy Hauling: A Worldwide Update and Highlights of IHHA 2015
The presentation will give an overview of which heavy haul railways around the world are pushing the envelopes on axle loads, train lengths and tonnage densities, and how they are doing it. Case studies will be reviewed from Australia and China. The presentation will then give a synopsis of the latest International Heavy Haul conference in Perth, Australia, highlighting the most promising emerging technologies on the horizon for heavy haulers, and their challenges in the pursuit of rail haulage competitiveness on world commodity markets.
