David Ferryman

Biography: David W. Ferryman was appointed CN’s Vice-President Engineering in August 2005. David Ferryman has a B.Sc. Degree in Civil Engineering from Colorado State University and an MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University. He holds a Professional Engineer’s Certification in the State of Mississippi.

Mr. Ferryman started his railway career with Burlington Northern (BN) as an Engineering Intern in 1988, and was recruited full-time as a Management Trainee in 1992. After serving in a variety of engineering positions at BN, Mr. Ferryman joined the Illinois Central Railroad (IC) in 1997 as the Assistant Superintendent of Engineering in Jackson, Mississippi. After the CN / IC merger in 1998, Mr. Ferryman was promoted to the position of Division Engineer, Gulf Division. In 2000, he was appointed Assistant General Manager in Troy, Michigan, which led to his promotion as General Manager in 2002. He was appointed Chief Engineer, U.S. Region, in 2003 and ultimately promoted to Vice-President Engineering in Edmonton, Alberta, in 2005.

Mr. Ferryman is currently based in Homewood, Illinois.
