Biography: Dan Voelkerding is the Track Standards Engineer for the Canadian National Railroad in Homewood, IL. CN’s Track Standards Department is responsible for preparing Standard Documents for Track Components and Maintenance Documents, track component failure analysis, technology developments, and new product testing.

Dan spent the first five years of his career as a Design Engineer then Lead Project Engineer at Cleveland Track Material, before joining the Canadian National Railroad in Summer 2014. Dan was responsible for Research & Development along with Production Engineering. He worked on a wide variety of projects, including both Heavy Haul and Light Rail/Transit projects. While at Cleveland Track Material, Dan received nine Patents for Special Trackwork Designs.

Dan has a BSME in Mechanical Engineering from Cleveland State University. He is the Secretary for AREMA Committee 5, Track and Subcommittee Chairman for Design Geometry.
